To counteract these oppressive effects, alliances are needed at different levels. The multidisciplinary collective ‘Dreaming Beyond AI’ creates a space in which artists and activists can take action against violent algorithmic systems, question injustices and envision alternative futures. This collaboration helps to understand the role of AI in societal power structures, to connect struggles from analogue and digital spheres and to strengthen local and global resistance.
‘Dreaming Beyond AI’ was created to meet the technological and social challenges of our time with collective, creative approaches. Our second residency for artists and activists to take place in 2025 responds to the urgent need for resistance against algorithmic oppression. By bringing together diverse perspectives and practices, we promote solidarity, the exchange of critical knowledge and the development of common strategies of resistance.
Realised in collaboration with ifa - Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen, the aim of the residency will be to build coalitions that unite struggles and highlight the connections between AI and other forms of oppression. Art plays a central role in this, as it builds bridges and makes alternative futures visible and tangible. Together we aim to develop tools and narratives that resist the harmful effects of AI and help pave the way for more just, inclusive and liberated futures.
