Kit Braybrooke

for SERVERS, SPORES, AND SEEDS

Biography

Kit Braybrooke is a professor of transversal design at IXDM Institute Experimental Design & Media Cultures, FHNW HGK Academy of Art and Design Basel. As a designer-artist and anthropologist, their practice asks how technological innovation can invite more-than-human networks and systems (animal, vegetal, machine, and algorithmic) to walk together across new terrains. They are head of the Transversal Design MA programme at FHNW HGK, which decolonises design from within by integrating critical and creative practices across society, ecology and technoscience to invite radical proposals for worlds in transition. They have taught at places like Royal College of Art, King's College London and Tongji University China, and their work has been featured by TATE Modern, Arafura Mexico, Uroboros Festival Prague, Portland Art Gallery, RTVE Spain, BBC News, Guardian, DAZED & Furtherfield. They are also a director of the critical design studio We&Us, which since 2020 has explored community co-creation for systems change across Europe, China and North America; a co-founder of Art Tech Nature Culture; and a friend to all the world's dogs 🐺
